Frequently Asked Questions About Solar Panels

Solarise Solar Installation FAQ

What are the benefits of installing solar panels on my home?

Installing solar panels can provide a myriad of benefits. One of the most immediate advantages is a significant reduction in energy bills. Solar panels harness the power of the sun to generate electricity, which can offset or even completely cover your home's energy needs. This can result in substantial energy bill savings over time. Apart from the financial benefits, solar panels increase your home's energy independence, reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. This transition to renewable energy contributes to environmental sustainability and reduces your carbon footprint. Furthermore, Solarise Solar uses modern black-on-black solar panels of the highest quality, which blend in seamlessly with your roof, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your home. Our panels come with a 30-year manufacturer warranty, ensuring durability and peace of mind for decades.

How long does solar panel installation take?

The timeframe for solar panel installation is not fixed and depends on several factors such as the size and type of your roof, the number of panels being installed, and weather conditions. However, once the permits are secured and equipment is procured, the actual installation usually takes about 1-3 days. At Solarise Solar, our experienced team of installers puts forth their best efforts to ensure the installation process is as quick and efficient as possible, causing minimal disruption to your routine.

Do solar panels work well in Colorado Springs, Colorado?

Absolutely! Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a great place for solar energy. The area enjoys over 300 sunny days per year, providing an abundant supply for most of the year. Additionally, Colorado offers attractive incentives and policies for solar energy, making it even more advantageous for homeowners to install solar panels.

What types of roofs can have solar panels installed?

At Solarise Solar, we have the expertise to install solar panels on various roof types. Whether your roof is made from composite materials, metal, tile, or wood, we can safely and efficiently install solar panels on it. We customize the installation process based on the specifics of your roof to ensure optimal performance.

Can ground-mounted solar panels be installed if my roof isn't suitable?

Yes, if your roof isn't suitable for solar panel installation, ground-mounted solar panels are an excellent alternative. Ground-mounted solar panels offer the same benefits as roof-mounted panels and can be installed in your yard or any suitable open space on your property. Solarise Solar's team will assess your property to determine the best location for these panels.

Are there financial benefits to installing solar panels?

Absolutely. One of the main benefits of installing solar panels is the significant reduction in energy bills. By generating your own renewable energy, you can offset a large portion of your electricity costs. On top of these savings, there are numerous government incentives, like the federal solar tax credit, which can offset a significant portion of the installation costs. Solar energy systems can also increase your property's value, making it a great investment.

What are the energy savings after installing solar panels?

The exact energy savings from solar panels will depend on several factors, including the size of your solar system, the angle and orientation of your roof, and the amount of sunlight your location receives. However, most homeowners see a significant reduction in their energy costs—some even achieve total energy independence, meaning their solar panels generate enough electricity to cover all their power needs. Our team at Solarise Solar can provide a more specific estimate based on your unique circumstances.

What is the ideal location for installing solar panels?

The optimal location for solar panels is usually on a south-facing roof to capture the most sunlight throughout the day. However, east- or west-facing roofs are also suitable. Solarise Solar's team will conduct a thorough evaluation to identify the best location for your solar panels, considering factors like roof angle, potential shading, and local climate conditions. We aim to maximize your solar energy production in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Is solar energy reliable and consistent?

Solar energy is a reliable and consistent source of electricity, especially in locations like Colorado Springs, Colorado, which has abundant sunshine throughout the year. While solar energy production can vary depending on the weather and time of day, a properly sized and installed solar panel system can generate a significant amount of electricity to meet your home's energy needs.

Can installing solar panels help me become more energy independent?

Yes, indeed. Installing solar panels allows you to generate your own electricity, reducing your dependence on your local utility company. This not only leads to significant cost savings but also provides a degree of energy security, as you are less affected by changes in electricity prices or disruptions in supply. With Solarise Solar, you can enjoy a higher level of energy independence.

What happens to the excess energy produced by the solar panels?

Excess electricity produced by your solar panels is fed back into the electric grid for systems connected to the grid. Through net metering, your utility company will track and credit this exported energy against your energy consumption. So, when your solar panels produce more electricity than your home can immediately use, you can still benefit from this excess production by exporting it to the grid in exchange for credits.

What is the lifespan of the solar panels installed by Solarise Solar?

Solar panels are built to last. The solar panels installed by Solarise Solar come with a 30-year manufacturer’s warranty. This means you will have at least three decades of efficient energy generation, although many solar panels will continue to work effectively for years after the warranty ends.

How do I maintain my solar panels after installation?

Solar panels require relatively little maintenance. You need to occasionally clean them and keep them free of dust, leaves, and other debris that could block sunlight. In case of snow, panels can be cleared off, but often, the snow will slide off on its own. Solarise Solar recommends an inspection every few years to ensure the panels and the electrical systems work optimally.

We oversized our system a little to prepare for future heat pumps and electric cars, so have had no electric bill other than the connection fee for the utility this year :)Our storage has also been great and kept us running through several power outages. It is also starting to really help our solar credit bank now that we have peak rate hours.Solarise was easy to work with through the design phase and made the installation a piece of cake. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking into a new system!

Solarise was great! I build small off-grid PV systems, but ran out of time to do our own. Their install was very professional, and the installation techs were able to answer all my questions as well. The only hiccup was that the roof install got pushed back due to wind, but I can’t blame them for that! The system has been operating flawlessly for about a year now, and I’m looking forward to TOU billing since my specific system will actually be generating more credits during peak hours.I will definitely be using them again for additional storage and PV as our energy needs increase.

My family has been happy with our solar panels. Being a military family it has helped us greatly with cutting costs in our home we purchased. We went from paying a utility bill of almost $300-$400 monthly depending on outside temperatures to just paying $10 monthly just for the connection fee. Solaris Solar made my family feel welcomed and walked us through the process step by step. They have been great. I highly suggest anyone interest in adding solar to their home to do so.

We have had the Solarise panels for over a year now and things have been great. No issues with the panels and the company checks in every now and then to make sure everything is okay. They are currently reviewing our elec statements, since we are still getting elec bills, to see about adding more panels, at no additional cost. I will say one thing, though, when we were sold the panels, we were told we would get an $11,000 CO state tax credit, which once received the tax refund, we were to apply all to the loan to keep the loan payment low. FYI, there IS an $11,000 credit however, the state of CO only applied $8,000, minus what we owed the state, so there was not 11k to put down towards the loan. The state breaks it up, 8k first year and 3k the following tax year. So, provided CO is still offering the credit, keep that in mind. Other than that, the panels work really well and we are satisfied. Also, they warranty the roof, as well as the panels, so that is nice.

I shopped around and spoke with a few different solar companies before deciding on Solarise because they offered the best deal as well as being the least pushy and offered the most easy to understand explanations.I have not been disappointed and the panels have saved me a ton of money on electricity, especially during the summer even without being overly cautious on ac use.
